The Devil’s Coach House
Here at Soundfackery Productions, The Devil’s Coach House is what we affectionately call the brand new studio. It’s kind of a joke, since it’s located in the tranquil, idyllic French countryside, surrounded by green fields, trees, birds and... black and white cows!
But the name is so cool, we couldn’t resist.
Take a look our Soundfackery and Kokovocals Instagram accounts to get a feel for the surroundings.
The studio itself is a converted, 19th-century, stone coach house…
with an enormous, 6m x 5m (20ft x 16ft) stone live room with an arched ceiling that’s 6.5m (21 ft) high.
The control room is full of all kinds of analog and digital toys to get your creative juices flowing…
The live room sounds fantastic and produces absolutely huge drum sounds.
With the live room’s renovation, the cleaned, restored stones show even more clearly their blue granite and quartz-striped glory, the natural lime pointing a bright contrast to their eloquent darkness.
This vast space, combined with moveable acoustic treatments, can produce sounds ranging from church-like, natural reverb to the warm, dry sound beloved by 70s rock stars.
We are delighted to announce that we are taking advance deposits for 2024 springtime and summer bookings!
We offer production options, ranging from digital to hybrid analogue, but we can arrange a full, 100% analogue recording, mixing and mastering service… if you’re brave enough.
Steve will provide for your recording, mixing and mastering needs and can advise on compositional or lyrical elements, if you’re stuck. Anikó, our resident vocal coach, can provide vocal technique support to coach you through the perfect vocal performance. She can also provide backing vocals and develop harmonies.
We can offer residential options catered to your budget.
Recording studio clients have the option of renting the Quirky Cottage on site. The cottage has two bathrooms and sleeps six comfortably, but there’s always room for an extra bed!
The real rock stars among you might opt for our deluxe option, which is a fully modernised house that sleeps 6+, has a huge dining room, a mezzanine and a jacuzzi!
Speaking of rock stars, did you know that our recording studio is only 20 minutes’ drive away from Les Vieilles Charrues, the largest music festival in Europe, as well as one of France’s best Metal festivals, Motocultor? In fact, Brittany has more music festivals than any other region of France. If you fancy braving a longer drive, you can head down to Clisson, near Nantes, for the World’s greatest Rock and Metal Festival, Hellfest.
You’ll definitely want to lie in the tree hammock with your songwriting notebook and a glass of something refreshing, pondering the leaves above you while you create.
If you need a break from the grind, why not go for a walk in the stunning surrounding countryside? (You can even borrow our dog, if you like!)
Steve makes a mean Hungarian pork and bean soup, too, and Anikó is good at salads and sandwiches.
We are super-friendly and love meeting and working with new creatives. Do say “hi” via social media, where you’ll get a sense of our personalities, as well.
